SPRING is here, and The Punch Bowl looks inviting as the evenings are evenings.

We have had a lovely start to the year, and we have been delighted to have hosted Golden, and Silver Weddings and 21st & 18th celebrations. Some super Weddings to look forward too.

I have just finished squeezing Oranges from Zimbabwe (lovely!) And we have the new crop of Figs from Turkey and fabulous Endive from South of France.

Closer to home we have Turbot caught from Day Boats in Portsmouth(i.e. returning daily so sparklingly fresh) and we have been serving Razor Clams with our fabulous Scallops

Penny has been searing Hallibut finished with fresh ginger, fresh chilli and honey..really looks good and delicious!

English Strawberries and fresh fish is in plentiful supply.

(Scallops, Dover Sole, Sea Bass, Jumbo Mediterranean Prawns, Cromer Crabs with Claws, Lobsters, Smoked Salmon)

We have Rhubarb in our gardens, crowns just opening, which appears in our Crumbles with home made custard.

New Season lamb with homemade mint sauce; and very local (!) Pork (Roast Belly of Pork)

Penny has been making some really interesting Meat Free Options ..some with peanuts, and last weekend a Mushroom Wellington which was really tasty.

Our Beef from Sweetlands is as tasty as ever, and we are pleased to be featuring Marriages' Beef from their herd in Good Easter. (Doesn't get much more local).

The Punch Bowl is an English restaurant located in a listed Tudor Building in the picturesque village of High Easter. Open Friday and Saturday evening's, as well as for Sunday lunch, we pride ourselves as being an English Restaurant in the countryside!

One of our many forte's is a great wine list, with a plentiful cellar bursting with delicious wines to accompany your meal.

Come through the Kitchen, meet the most important person (my Wife who cooks) and go through to our WINE ROOM. Choose your wines and we will decant or chill your wines ready for your meal.

We have some really good wines for off-sales either in our WINE ROOM or in our stores..if you have a function coming up Iam sure we can provide great wines at amazing prices, (or at least try too!)

After many years of successful trips, we have handpicked a couple of our favourites to offer you this year.

A few weeks ago we had a trip to La Scala in Milan and Villa d'Este (Lake Como) which was really excellent.

Iam currently working on a short midweek trip to Florence staying at the outstanding Villa Massa (sister hotel to Villa d'Este)..Can't wait..
